The Royal Wedding, Gnomeo & Juliet, & I Am Number Four
This week, the #1 DVD is The Royal Wedding: William & Catherine, BBC's complete coverage of the wedding which includes the full ceremony and pre- and post-wedding highlights.
As for theatrical features now on DVD, the first biggie this week is the animated romantic comedy Gnomeo & Juliet. Extras include "Elton Builds a Garden," "Frog Talk with Ashley Jensen," and "Crocodile Rock" music video. Also availble is the 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo and the regular Blu-ray/DVD combo.
The other big theatrical release is the sci-fi/romantic/thriller I Am Number Four, starring Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron. Extras on the DVD include "Becoming Number 6" and bloopers. The Blu-ray/DVD combo also includes 6 deleted/extended scenes.

The Mechanic, The Rite, The Other Woman, ESPN Films...
This week, three theatrical films dominate the best sellers spot, starting with The Mechanic, starring Jason Statham. Extras include a "Tools of the Trade" featurette and deleted/extended scenes. Next up is The Rite, the exorcism thriller starring Anthony Hopkins. Only bonus feature are additional scenes (the Blu-ray has more extras, including an alternate ending and a featurette about the true events that inspired the movie). The third theatrical film and best seller this week is The Other Woman, starring Natalie Portman. Other than the theatrical trailer, there are no extras.
Also out this week: ESPN has released a second volume of their 30 for 30 documentary film series, season 2 of the original Bionic Woman TV show, the direct-to-DVD animated film Thor: Tales of Asgard, and the suspense thriller The Roommate, starring Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester.

Justin Bieber, No Strings Attached, Blue Valentine, Black Death...
This week's biggest DVD is Justin Bieber's bio documentary Never Say Never. Extras include several featurettes, including a "Concert Dance Off," a full-length performance of "Favorite Girl," "R.I.P. Hair Flip" - Justin cutting his signature hair, and "Giving Back," in which Justin's team surprises lucky fans with concert tickets.
The next two big sellers this week are two romantic theatrical films, one comedy and one drama: First, the romantic comedy, No Strings Attached, starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. Extras include an audio commentary from director Ivan Reitman, deleted scenes, "Sex Friends: Getting Together," "Inside the Sassy halls of Secret High," and more. Second, the romantic drama, Blue Valentine, starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Extras include an audio commentary, deleted scenes, a Making-of featurette, and home movies.
Last three biggies this week are: 1. the concert film featuring rock legends AC/DC: Live at River Plate, from their recent Black Ice tour; 2. The Green Hornet, Boy Meets World, Being Human, and The Dilemma
This week's big DVD release is The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen. It's released in three versions: 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo, Blu-ray, and single DVD. Extras on the single DVD include an audio commentary by the filmmakers, a gag reel, a "Writing The Green Hornet" featurette, and "The Black Beauty: Rebirth of Cool" featurette about the car. The Blu-ray versions have several more special features.
Next up this week are two TV shows: The first is an older teen sitcom from the '90s, Boy Meets World, Season 5. The other TV series is the recent British supernatural drama, Being Human, Season 3.
Rounding out the top sellers this week are the theatrical buddy/romantic comedy The Dilemma, starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, Drop Dead Diva Season 2, Murdoch Mysteries Season 3, and Melrose Place Season 6 Volume 1.

Upstairs Downstairs and Human Planet (That's It???)
This is not a great week for new DVD releases. There are no big theatrical features released, nor a hugely popular (U.S.) TV show.In fact, the top seller this week is the British TV drama Upstairs, Downstairs, which is an updated version of the series of the same name from the '70s. The second top seller this week is yet another BBC series, Human Planet, the eight-part documentary series about the relationship between humans and nature.
Other top releases this week include several animated DVDs: South Park Season 14, Eden of East: The King of Eden, and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Volume 1 and Volume 2. Rounding out the humdrum list are a Criterion version of the 1981 Brian De Palma thriller Blow Out and the British series Doc Martin Collection 1-4.

As for this week, one of the last of the 2010 "Best Picture" nominees is finally out on DVD, The King's Speech (the final Best Picture nominee on DVD will be True Grit, out in June). Disney's classic Bambi gets another release on DVD, following it's debut on Blu-ray from over a month ago. Harry Potter, The Incredibles, and Country Strong
Last week was TRON week, but this week is Harry Potter week! Six new Harry Potter DVDs and/or box sets are being released: Four versions of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1: Single-disc DVD, Blu-ray/DVD combo, Blu-ray, and w/ a Dobby Bookend. Also out are two new box sets of all Potter films: Harry Potter, Years 1-7 (Part 1) on DVD and Blu-ray. Extras on the Blu-ray/DVD are "Maximum Movie Mode," "The Seven Harrys," On the green with Rupert, Tom, Oliver, and James. Dan, Rupert, and Emma's running competition, Additional scenes, and "Behind the soundtrack."
Disney/Pixar is releasing two films on Blu-ray/DVD: The Incredibles - first time on Blu-ray! Brand new extras include "The Incredibles Revisited:" a Filmmakers Roundtable, "Paths to Pixar: Story Artists," "Studio Stories: Gary's Birthday," "Ending With a Bang!: Making the End Credits, and "Interactive! "The New Nomanisan" Island: A Top Secret Redevelopment Plan." Cars is also getting a re-release on Blu-ray/DVD, no doubt in conjuction with the upcoming theatrical release of Cars 2. Brand new extras on the Cars Blu-ray/DVD include "Carfinder" Game, "Cine-Explore:" For The Ultimate, Behind-The-Scenes Experience, Deleted Scene: "Traffic School," and Radiator Springs Featurettes.
The last big theatrical release this week is the showbiz drama Country Strong, starring Gwyneth Paltrow. Extras include an extended performance of "Shake That Thing," the Original Ending, Deleted Scenes, and the music videos for "Country Strong" and "A Little Bit Stronger."

TRON, Friday Night Lights, Narnia, Taxi Driver (Blu-ray, and Little Fockers

Tangled, Black Swan, Mad Men, Fair Game, Ten Commandments...
This week, Disney tops the best-selling DVDs with Tangled, their comedic take on the classic fairty tale Rapunzel. Extras include two original storybook openings and a "50th Animated Countdown." The Blu-ray/DVD combo set includes several additional extras, including deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, two extended songs, and several trailers. Tangled is also available in a 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo (3D Blu-ray player and 3D TV required).
Best Picture nominee Black Swan is out, starring Natalie Portman in her Oscar-winning role. Next up is the very popular TV drama Mad Men, Season 4. This set includes an audio commentary on all episodes as well as the bonus features "Divorce: Circa 1960s," "Marketing The Mustang: An American Classic," "How To Succeed In Business Draper Style," and a featurette on the 1964 Presidential Campaign.

The Tourist, Yogi Bear, How Do You Know, Venture Bros., Skyline...
This week, topping out the big theatrical releases on DVD is The Tourist, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie (btw, between the two of them, who do you think is the bigger movie star? I'm going with Johnny Depp). Extras include an audio commentary from Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (yes, that's his real name), "A Gala Affair" featurette, "Bringing Glamour Back," and an outtake reel. The Blu-ray/DVD combo includes a few additional extras.
Next up is the live action/CG family movie Yogi Bear, starring the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake, with Tom Cavanagh and Anna Faris as real people. This one is released in several versions: Single-disc DVD, Two-disc DVD, Single-disc Blu-ray, Two-disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo, and a 3D Blu-ray/DVD Combo (the last two also include a digital copy of the film). Extras on each disc vary, but the Two-disc DVD is the only one that also includes the 1994 TV special Yogi the Easter Bear, and it's at a great price, too.
Wrapping up the theatrical features are the romantic comedy How Do You Know (starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Jack Nicholson) and the alien invasion flick Skyline, starring Eric Balfour and Donald Faison.
In TV land, The Venture Bros., Season 4, Vol. 2 is released, as is Season 2 of the '80s detective romantic dramedy Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
Finally, new Blu-ray editions of two beloved films: First, the coming-of-age drama Stand By Me, now featuring a "25 Years Later" picture-in-picture commentary retrospective with director Rob Reiner and actors Corey Feldman and Wil Weaton. Second is the tribute concert to the late George Harrison (which took place one year after his death), Concert for George.

The Fighter, Hereafter, Barbie, and The Switch
Oscar-winner The Fighter, with Christian Bale (winner of Best Actor), Mark Wahlberg, Melissa Leo (winner of Best Supporting Actress), and Amy Adams, is now out on DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo. Extras on the DVD include an audio commentary by Director David O. Russell and a making-of featurette. The Blu-ray/DVD combo also includes a "Keeping the Faith" featurette, deleted scenes, and a digital copy of the film.
Clint Eastwood's supernatural drama Hereafter, starring Matt Damon, is out on DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo. The DVD includes three featurettes: "Tsunami!: Recreating a Disaster," "Hereafter's Locations: Casting the Silent Characters," and most notably the full-length 90-minute documentary "The Eastwood Factor." The Blu-ray/DVD combo includes those 3 and several more featurettes, such as "Is There Life After Death?," "Clint on Casting," and a few others.
On a lighter note, there's a new direct-to-DVD animated feature starring every girl's favorite doll, Barbie: A Fairy Secret. The romantic comedy The Switch, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman is released. Inside Job, Walking Dead, Next Three Days, Morning Glory...
The critically-acclaimed documentary Inside Job is this week's biggest seller (so far), with the popular new TV series The Walking Dead tailing at a close second. Extras on Inside Job include a commentary by Director Charles Ferguson & Producer Audrey Marrs and a making-of featurette as well. The DVD for The Walking Dead features extra footage and several making-of featurettes, zombie make-up tips, and a convention panel with the producers.
Next up is the prison-break thriller The Next Three Days, starring Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks, and Liam Neeson. Extras include a commentary from the filmmakers, making-of featurettes, a "True Escapes for Love" featurette, and deleted/extended scenes. Bambi, Burlesque, Jillian Michaels, 127 Hours, Love & Other Drugs...
This week, the new DVD releases are topped off with Disney's animated classic Bambi on Blu-ray/DVD combo. The new extras for this release include a "Disney's Second Screen" viewing option, with content that "comes alive on your laptop, or iPad as you watch the movie." The movie is shown in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1, however, there is a "Disney View" option; which is a 16x9 "full frame viewing experience." Other extras include an enhanced interactive edition of "Inside Walt's Story Meetings," 2 never-before-seen deleted scenes, a deleted song, and all the previous DVD bonus features are carried over.
Also this week, Burlesque, the dance musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. Extras on Burlesque are a Director's Commentary, an alternate opening, "The Burlesque Lounge: Alternate Full Musical Performances," and a blooper reel. The Oscar-nominated film 127 Hours, starring James Franco, is out this week, as is the romantic dramedy Love & Other Drugs, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. Surprisingly, one of the top three best sellers this week is the workout DVD by Jillian Michaels, Ripped in 30. Rounding out the new releases this week is the action/revenge thriller Faster, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Megamind, Celtic Thunder, Weeds, Due Date, All-Star Superman...
Two of this week's best sellers are both animated features, and with a superhero theme. The first is the Blu-ray/DVD combo version of the big theatrical release Megamind (and this week's biggest seller) and the other is the direct-to-video All-Star Superman, which is based on one the most celebrated Superman stories in recent history, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Frank Quietly. Megamind's Blu-ray/DVD edition is jam-packed with extras, most notably, a new short film, "The Button of Doom" as well as an "Animator's Corner" viewing option, trivia track, filmmakers' commentary, and an "Interactive Comic Creator." All-Star Superman, in which, again, the Blu-ray/DVD combo is outselling both DVD versions, has a decent amount of extras and should satisfy fans of the comic, with an audio commentary by Grant Morrison and Bruce Timm, a featurette about what inspired Morrison to write the legendary comic mini series, "Incubating the Idea," a conversation with Morrison, All-Star Superman virtual comic book, and a sneak peek at the next DCU animated movie "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights."The second best seller this week, surprisingly, goes to Celtic Thunder: Heritage, a live concert from the popular Irish group Celtic Thunder, with 16 tracks on the DVD. Speaking of live concerts, Les Miserables: The 25th Anniversary Concert is also released this week, which honors 25 years of one of the most popular musicals of all time.
Back to the features, the comedy Due Date is now due, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. The only extra on the DVD is a gag reel, but the Blu-ray/DVD package includes that and several more, such as Deleted Scenes, an "Action Mashup," "Too Many Questions Mashup," and a "Two and a Half Men" Sequence featuring Ethan Tremblay. Get Low, the dramedy starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray is out, extras included are an audio commentary with Duvall, Sissy Spacek, director Aaron Schneider, and producer Dean Zanuck, cast & crew Q&A, three behind-the-scenes featurettes, and an "On the Red Carpet" feature. Finally, Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo Trilogy, comprised of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest" and a 4th disc with 2 hours of extras.
The biggies from TV land this week are Season 6 of Weeds, Set 17 of Midsomer Murders, and Season 2 of Nurse Jackie.

Waiting for Superman, Unstoppable, The Fugitive, Dr. Who, Top Gear....
Only two major theatrical features are being released this week on DVD: The very buzzy documentary (that was snubbed in this year's Oscar nominations) Waiting for 'Superman' and the action flick Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. Extras on Waiting for 'Superman' include four additional stories from inspiring teachers and students, a conversation with the director Davis Guggenheim, audio commentary by the director and producer of the film, and three featurettes about the future of public education. Only two extras, however, on the Unstoppable DVD: An audio commentary by director Tony Scott and a making-of featurette.
Big TV sellers this week are the final season of the classic TV show The Fugitive, another Dr. Who movie this week: Dr. Who: A Christmas Carol, and Season 4 of Spin City, which was Michael J. Fox's final season on the show. The popular British series for auto lovers, Top Gear, has two new seasons being released on DVD: Season 14 and Season 15. They are also the first seasons to be released on Blu-ray. Oh, and for you big kids of the '80s, the full first season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is now on DVD.
Finally, the documentary about the life and career of Motörhead singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister, Lemmy: 49% Motherf*****, 51% Son Of A B**** (which might just be one of the greatest titles, ever).

Life As We Know It, For Colored Girls, You Again, Paranormal 2...
This week, the romantic comedy Life As We Know It, starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel is released. The only bonus feature is a set of Deleted Scenes. Also released, Tyler Perry's drama For Colored Girls (based on the play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," by Ntozake Shange), starring Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, and Phylicia Rashad. Extras include an interactive documentary, "Prism of Poems," and a few other featurettes about the film.
The chick flick, You Again, starring Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Bell, Odette Yustman, and Betty White. Extras include an on-the-set featurette with director Andy Fickman, an "Ask the Cast" feature, "Funny or Die" with the full cast, three deleted scenes, and a few other featurettes.
I Spit on Your Grave, the remake of the 1978 revenge slasher thriller, is released. This one stars Sarah Butler as the victim/slasher. Extras include an audio commentary with the director Steven R. Monroe and producer Lisa Hansen, a feature about "Remaking a Cult Icon," deleted scenes, and marketing ads. Another in the realm of horror/sequels/remakes area, Paranormal Activity 2, which just includes a trailer and "Found Footage."
Outside of the feature film releases are Columbo: Mystery Movie Collection 1991-1993, which includes six two-hour TV movies starring Peter Falk in his emmy-winning role as police lieutenant Columbo. Also from TV land, Doctor Who: The Movie, the 1995 TV movie that aired on FOX, starring Paul McGann as The Doctor. Finally, Billy Joel's concert documentary film The Last Play at Shea,narrated by Alec Baldwin, documents the very last concert ever filmed at the Shea Stadium in New York. The film is as much about Joel's concert as it is about the history of the stadium and New York Mets. Alice, Chihuahuas, Let Me In, Never Let Me Go, Conviction...
This week, Disney's animated classic Alice in Wonderland made its debut on Blu-ray (which is also a DVD Combo, making this its fourth release on DVD). This release includes several new BD-exclusive bonus features, most notably, two different viewing experiences: "Through the keyhole," which references the original Lewis Carroll classic throughout the film and "Disney View," an expanded viewing experience with new Disney art in the wings of the screen.
Also from Disney, the direct-to-video sequel, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. Extras include a Game, "This Is My Paradise" music video from Bridgit Mendler, and a short gag reel of Bloopers of the dogs on the movie set.

Let Me In stars last year's breakout star from Kick Ass, Chloe Grace Moretz, as a young vampire who befriends a boy. It is a remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One In. Extras on Let Me In include an audio commentary, a making-of featurette, "The Art of Special Effects," "Crash Sequence Step-by-Step," Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary by the Director, and a Trailer/Marketing Gallery. Never Let Me Go is a romantic drama about three young adults (Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield) who grew up together in an English boarding school. Extras for Never Let Me Go include a 30-minute making-of documentary and some slideshows of on-set photography, artwork, and Hailsham Campaign Graphics.
Other biggies this week include the legal drama, Conviction, based on the true story of a women (Hilary Swank) who puts herself through law school to defend and attempt to release her brother (Sam Rockwell) from prison on a murder charge. The low-budget sci-fi, aliens-quarantined flick, Monsters and finally, the documentary The Tillman Story, about the NFL player Pat Tillman, who left his million-dollar football career to join the Army, only to be killed two years later by friendly fire, which was not disclosed to the family until weeks after the memorial service.

The low-budget sci-fi, aliens-quarantined flick, Monsters and finally, the documentary The Tillman Story, about the NFL player Pat Tillman, who left his million-dollar football career to join the Army, only to be killed two years later by friendly fire, which was not disclosed to the family until weeks after the memorial service.
